Chiropractic Durham NC Alice

Clinical Herbalist

Alice Bromberg, C.P.N.P-C is an accomplished nursing professional with over 30 years of experience working in the hospital, clinic, and private practice environments. In addition to her previous nursing experience in traditional medicine, her primary career focus as a patient advocate has been to address individual patient needs with specific recommendations centered on patient healing as well as diagnosis.

Alice began an eight year journey of weaving traditional medicine with the ability to treat patients on an individual basis using herbal therapeutics combined with traditional medicine to address illness and related symptoms.

This involved a holistic treatment of identifying the root cause of patient illness in addition to the conventional approach of simply prescribing drugs.

She became Reiki Certified and pursued her interest in practicing Integrative Medicine at PATH Medical, (Path for Achieving Total Health) as a Nurse Practitioner supporting a 7,000 patient base with treatment based on use of natural supplements, herbs, prescribed medication and nutritional counseling. She gained additional experience through collaboration with staff in addition to case study research and related publications.

Her next position with Fratellone Medical Associates in New York encouraged her to practice Integrated Medicine in a location with an on-site Herbal Apothecary. She collaborated with Dr. Patrick Fratellone, a Board Certified Cardiologist and Registered Herbalist and practiced with emphasis on herbal supplement recommendations and specific laboratory testing with intravenous mineral and vitamin infusions.

She completed additional formal training in the "Foundations in Herbal Medicine" (FIHM) program and its required field work under direction of Dr. Tieraona Lowdog, recognized as one of the leading experts in Integrative and Herbal Medicine. In addition to enhancing her experience as a Clinical Herbalist, Alice became a member of the American Herbalist Guild. (AHG).

Alice's extensive background in traditional medicine includes a B.S. at Downstate Medical College of Nursing at S.U.N.Y. and practicing as an R.N. at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center in the six bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and as Charge Nurse for the 30 bed General Pediatric Care Unit.

She was selected to participate in the helicopter ambulance transport for critical patient care and

eventually advanced her education upon being accepted at Seton Hall University in the original Nurse Practitioner M.S.N. program on full scholarship, graduating with Summa Cum Laude Honors.

Alice accepted a position at Queens Hospital Center (currently associated with Mt. Sinai Medical Center) as a Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Emergency Department where she was involved in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of pediatric trauma cases. She also supervised graduate nurse practitioners from Stony Brook and Adelphi Universities with clinical rotations in the emergency department and taught Pediatric Advanced Life Support classes to house staff and nurses.

Upon moving to New Jersey with her husband and anticipated birth of their daughter, she worked for Broadway Pediatrics, P.A. as a Nurse Practitioner with a patient base ranging from newborns to 26 year olds.

Her involvement in treatment of various newborn respiratory ailments led to her selection as a Faculty Member lecturing to physicians and nurses for Ross Products on effective administering of medicine to address RSV.

Alice has since moved to North Carolina with her husband. In her spare time she enjoys competitive fencing, cooking, traveling and creating tinctures, herbal infusions, syrups and salves using the fresh herbs in her garden. She is looking forward to the opportunity to practice as a Clinical Herbalist at University Chiropractic.
